How to Achieve Delicate Hands and Feet?

by LynEva 02 Nov 2022 0 Comments

Proper hand and foot care is vital. It enhances hygiene, comfort, and confidence. Regular care prevents issues and promotes overall well-being.

Hands Care

Hands are a woman's second face, and having soft, fair hands is essential for making nail polish and rings look more radiant. If you experience issues like darkened knuckles, deep wrinkles, hangnails, blemishes, or roughness, it indicates that your hands require proper care.

Hand skin needs special care due to the following reasons:

  1. Lack of sebaceous glands: The skin on the hands has very few sebaceous glands, making it incapable of producing enough natural oils to moisturize itself. Therefore, it inherently has poor moisturizing capabilities.
  2. Thick stratum corneum: Neglecting to remove the stratum corneum of the skin in a timely manner can result in an accumulation of dead skin cells on the hands, leading to rough and peeling skin, which is a significant contributing factor.
  3. External irritants: Hands are frequently exposed to various external irritants, such as detergents, cleaning agents, and chemicals, which can damage the skin. Additionally, prolonged exposure to cold and dry outdoor air, especially in cold weather, can also lead to dry and rough skin on the hands.

Five Simple Steps to Refining Your Hands

Step 1: Avoid Direct Contact with Cleaning Products

When cleaning, doing household chores, or coming into contact with irritants, wear suitable gloves to protect your hands from harm. Gloves prevent your skin from direct exposure to irritants and reduce friction and irritation on your hand's skin.

Step 2: Apply Hand Cream Correctly

Hand cream plays a vital role in moisturizing your hands. Hand creams that contain effective whitening ingredients can also make your hands appear fairer. It's recommended to apply hand cream every time you wash your hands, especially after tasks like washing dishes or doing laundry, which can make your hands particularly dry. Hand cream should not be overlooked. Applying hand cream before bedtime, along with your facial skincare routine, ensures nighttime moisturization.

Before applying hand cream, wash your hands, ensuring that your fingertips and the back of your hands are clean. Slightly pat them dry; there's no need to make them completely dry to keep your hands moist. Apply hand cream in this slightly damp state for better moisturization.

Many people think that because their hands have a small surface area, they only need a small amount of cream. However, that's far from sufficient. You should use at least a grape-sized amount of hand cream. When applying it, don't rub vigorously; instead, gently massage it into your skin by patting with your fingertips to promote absorption.

Choose products that contain moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, urea, plant oils, and vitamin E to help maintain soft and hydrated skin on your hands. Opt for products with simpler ingredient lists, avoiding fragrances, dyes, and preservatives that might irritate the skin.

Step 3: Improve Hand Skin Discoloration and Wrinkles

If you have darkened joints and deep wrinkles, you can use a retinol cream before bedtime. Apply it to the affected areas and gently massage it in for absorption.

Please note that retinol can make your skin more sensitive to light, so it should be used at night, and you should be diligent about sun protection. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and those with sensitive skin should use retinol with caution.

Step 4: Weekly Hand Mask Treatment

You can either purchase hand masks or make your own. Apply a thick layer of hand cream, put on disposable gloves to seal the moisture, and leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes. Thicker application is more effective.

Step 5: Use Sunscreen

Your hand skin also needs protection from the harmful effects of UV rays. When outdoors, apply sunscreen to shield your hand skin from the sun's damage. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF suitable for your needs and remember to reapply it regularly.

Feet Care

The skin on the feet has very few sebaceous glands, making it prone to dryness. Daily walking can lead to the buildup of dead skin cells, causing roughness. Additionally, wearing sandals in the summer can result in darkened and rough-looking feet. So, how can you achieve soft and fair baby feet?

1. Cleanse: Soak your feet for 10 to 20 minutes every day to promote blood circulation and boost skin metabolism.

2. Exfoliate: After soaking your feet, use a foot file or exfoliating product to remove dead skin and calluses from the heels and soles. Avoid excessive exfoliation, as it can lead to skin sensitivity. Once a month is usually sufficient.

3. Foot Mask: Apply a generous amount of foot cream or body lotion after exfoliating and cover your feet with socks to aid absorption. Your feet will feel soft and rejuvenated the next day.

4. Sun Protection: Protect your feet from the sun when heading out during the summer.

5. Moisturize: After your daily shower, apply foot cream or moisturizer to reduce dryness and roughness.

In addition to foot care, daily habits are also crucial. Avoid wearing tight or non-breathable shoes for extended periods, as this may lead to foot discomfort and issues such as shoe sores, blisters, or corns. Choose well-fitting and breathable shoes, avoid wearing high heels or tight-fitting shoes for prolonged periods, and provide your feet with ample space and comfort.

Moreover, excessive foot sweating can lead to problems like foot odor and fungal infections. Keep your feet dry, opt for breathable socks and shoes, avoid wearing damp shoes for extended periods, and use moisture-absorbing agents or foot deodorants to help control sweaty feet issues.

If you experience symptoms like itching, peeling, or athlete's foot, it may indicate a fungal infection, and it's advisable to seek medical attention promptly.
