How to Adjust the Arch, Size, and Shape of Press-on Nails?

by LynEva 30 Oct 2022 0 Comments

If you have flat nails, and the curvature of the press-on nails doesn't match, it can lead to discomfort and poor adhesion. Similarly, if your natural nails have a larger curvature than the press-on nails, they may not look natural. Don't worry; you can try adjusting the curvature of the press-on nails.

If the press-on nails are too big or the curvature doesn't match the back edge of your natural nails, causing discomfort, you can follow the sanding tutorial below to make them fit your nail bed.

If both of these issues are present, start by adjusting the curvature, then sand for shape, and finally, adjust the size.

Adjusting the Arch of Press-On Nails

1.Use tweezers to pick up the press-on nail.

2.Use a hairdryer to blow hot air on the nail for about 10 seconds. You will notice that the nail becomes slightly warm and soft.

3.If you have flat nails, hold the press-on nail and use your thumb to press down on the nail, flattening the arch.

4.If your natural nail has a larger curvature (C-curve) than the press-on nail, use your thumb and index finger to pinch both ends of the nail, bringing them towards the center. If your natural nails are long, make sure to adjust the entire nail, including the front, to ensure it won't press against your fingers.

5.After adjusting, place the nail on your natural nail to check if the arch fits. If it's still not the right arch, make further adjustments.

6.Once the arch is suitable, use the hairdryer's cool air setting to set the nail in place or continue pressing it onto your natural nail until it cools down. This step is crucial because the nail may bounce back when it cools down, and you want the adjusted arch to be stable.

Please note that safety and care should be taken when using hot air from the hairdryer to avoid any burns.

Adjusting the Shape of Press-On Nails

1.Place the press-on nail on your natural nail and compare the shape of the bottom edge with the edge of your natural nail. Check if they match.

2.If they don't match, you can adjust the shape of the press-on nail using the included thin nail file. Use the rough side and hold it perpendicular to the nail's surface, avoid filing at an angle as it may damage the top layer of the press-on nail. File a few times and then compare it to your natural nail.

3.Don't try to get it perfect in one go. It's better to file a little at a time and check the fit repeatedly. This ensures that you don't over-file the press-on nail, making it unusable. It's a good practice to compare the fit multiple times to make sure it's just right.

4.After achieving the correct size and shape, use the fine-grained side of the included thin nail file to smooth the edges of the press-on nail, especially the inner edges, to prevent any sharpness. Make sure not to file the nail from the front, as this might damage the top layer of the nail.

Adjusting the Size of the Press-On Nails

1.Place the press-on nail on your natural nail and compare the size with your natural nail. Check if it's too large.

2.If the press-on nail is too big even when the curvature matches, you can adjust the size by filing. Use the provided thin nail file with the rough side and hold it perpendicular to the nail's surface. Avoid filing at an angle to prevent damaging the top layer of the press-on nail. File a few times and compare the size to your natural nail.

3.Don't attempt to get the size perfect in one go. It's better to file a little at a time and check the fit repeatedly to avoid over-filing, making the press-on nail unusable. Compare the fit multiple times to ensure it's just right.

4.After achieving the correct size, use the fine-grained side of the included thin nail file to smooth the edges of the press-on nail, especially the inner edges, to prevent any sharpness. Make sure not to file the nail from the front to avoid damaging the top layer of the nail.
